Step 1: Determine Background

A character's background is the first step in character creation. It can be as simple or as complex as you like, but it should give you a sense of who your character is and where they come from. Your character's background will help you make decisions about their career, motivation, and other aspects of their personality.

Here are some example backgrounds to help you get started:

0-10	Cargo Kid	You grew up on a cargo hauler, traveling from port to port. You're used to the constant sounds of the air recyclers and the feel of the engines humming beneath your feet.
11-20	Military Brat	You come from a long line of military personnel, and you've spent your whole life moving from base to base. You're used to the strict discipline and regimented lifestyle of the military.
21-30	Proud Colonist	You were part of the first wave of settlers on a new planet, and you helped build the first settlements. You're proud of your role in shaping the future of your new home.
31-40	Science Fiend	You've always been fascinated by the natural world and the mysteries of the universe. You spent your childhood conducting experiments and observing the stars.
41-50	Seedy Criminal	You grew up on the wrong side of the law, and you've spent most of your life running from the authorities. You're street smart and quick on your feet.
51-60	Corporate Drone	You've spent your whole life working for a faceless corporation, climbing the corporate ladder and doing whatever it takes to get ahead. You're ambitious and ruthless.
61-70	Free Wanderer	You've spent your life traveling from place to place, never staying in one spot for too long. You're a free spirit who values independence above all else.
71-80	Diaster Survivor	You've been through hell and back, surviving against all odds. You're tough as nails and have a knack for getting out of tight spots.
81-90	Political Activist	You've dedicated your life to fighting for a cause you believe in, whether it's environmentalism, civil rights, or something else. You're passionate and idealistic.
91-00	Lost In Space	You have no memory of your past or how you ended up where you are. You're a blank slate, trying to piece together the fragments of your past and figure out who you are.
